My story
From whiskey lover to rum collector
Sometimes it's your friends who lead you down completely new paths. In my case, it was a long-time friend who handed me a bottle of rum one day and said, "Try this. But do it right this time—not like you did before."
Until then, I had been a staunch whiskey lover. My small home bar was full of single malts and hand-picked bottlings, each bottle carefully selected. I loved discovering new whiskeys, tasting them, and savoring the subtle differences. Rum didn't play a big role in my life—for me, it was something you drank mixed, at most, in your youth.
But that one evening changed everything.
We sat together, taking our time, and my friend poured me a glass. The aroma was different than I had expected—complex, elegant, full of promise. And then the first sip: suddenly there was vanilla, dark chocolate, a hint of toasted wood, dried fruit, a touch of spice—and a length that completely surprised me.
From that moment on, I was hooked...
I discovered that rum has a much wider range of flavors than the sweet party drinks of my youth. Rum can be incredibly complex—sometimes fruity and fresh, sometimes deep and dark, sometimes sweet, sometimes spicy, sometimes almost tobacco-like, then light and playful again.
What still fascinates me today is its versatility: rum can smell of cocoa, caramel, vanilla, and brown sugar, unfold exotic fruit notes such as pineapple or banana, reveal spicy facets of cinnamon, pepper, or nutmeg, or reveal smoky and woody aromas from long barrel aging. And time and again, there are surprising combinations that you would never have expected – that's exactly what makes every tasting a little journey of discovery.
Curiosity turned into passion. Together with my friends, we organized regular tastings. These were evenings when we talked shop, raved, and discovered new things—and it was precisely these moments that inspired me to start my own collection. Every bottle I bought had to fascinate me.
Today, the roles have reversed: now I'm the one handing my friends a glass of rum. And every time they take their first sip, something magical happens: first a questioning look, then a slow smile, and finally that sparkle in their eyes when they realize that rum is much more than what they knew before. It's precisely these little moments of surprise and delight that remind me again and again why I love rum so much—and why I want to share my passion.
My collection has grown over time, and I have decided to part with some of these treasures.
Not because they no longer mean anything to me, but because I want to give others the chance to make discoveries similar to mine. I only sell bottles that I find exciting myself, and I treat each one with the utmost care, because in the end, it's not just about the contents of the bottle. It's about the stories it tells, the moments you experience with it, and the joy you can share with others.
Feel free to browse through my collection and perhaps discover your next favorite rum.
